Listen up men!
Prostate cancer is a significant health concern for us guys. Right now it is ranking as the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the United States, excluding skin cancers.
This year, in 2025, an estimated 313,780 new cases are expected to be diagnosed, and approximately 35,770 men are projected to die from the treatment of the disease. Most men above the age of 80 have prostate cancer and don’t even know it and die with it, not from it.
Roughly 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime, and about 1 in 44 men will die with it or from the treatments for it. Notably, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men, following lung cancer.
But that doesn’t mean you have to live in fear and it doesn’t mean we don’t know what causes prostate cancer.
If you have a holistic treatment for prostate cancer in your back pocket and you know what drives its growth, all you have to do is stop participating in the cause and you have nothing to worry about.
So let’s dive right in….
What Causes Prostate Cancer?
Medical doctors throw their collective hands up in the air and claim “we don’t know what causes cancer.”
False.
Just because “they” don’t know, doesn’t mean people who actually do research don’t also know. They conflate “we” with mankind. I’m sorry to say mister educated “doctor” but we do know the causes of cancer and you don’t.
There are many studies showing the causes of cancer. Apparently doctors forgot to read these articles.
We now know that the causes of prostate cancer are influenced by environmental, lifestyle and to a much lesser degree genetic factors. Exposure to pesticides (I’m thinking glyphosate here specifically), particularly organochlorine pesticides like DDT, simazine, and lindane, has been significantly associated with a massive increase risk of prostate cancer.
Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and phthalates, which are commonly found in plastics, have also been linked to prostate cancer development due to their endocrine-disrupting properties.
The elephant in the room is hydrogenated oils (vegetable and seed oils) have been found in many studies I’ve read to contribute to increased prostate cancer risk mostly because they are extremely proinflammatory.
More info on seed oils below…
The other, more important elephant in the room is light. Blue light, causes cancers of all kinds. As does a lack of sunlight. If you’re worried about prostate cancer, then I would highly suggest limiting your exposure to man made light, while increasing your exposure to the light from God.
To follow everything I’ve done to mitigate my light environment I’d recommend clicking here. If you want simple solutions invest in a pair of high quality blue blocking glasses, install Iris Tech on your computer and replace your LED lightbulbs in your home with these ones.
Remember, nature heals.
Inflammation (electron loss without antioxidants and electrons from the earth) causes all disease, including prostate cancer.
Lastly from a dietary perspective sugar-sweetened beverages (think high fructose corn syrup here) have been associated with a higher likelihood of prostate cancer, possibly due to insulin resistance and chronic inflammation.
Even commonly used mass-market multivitamins (for vitamins and supplements, I recommend Mitolife) have been linked to prostate cancer risk, possibly due to synthetic additives and imbalanced nutrient content. When taking supplements it’s critical to know what you’re putting in your body.
Moreover, occupational exposure to terbufos, an agricultural chemical, has been identified as a significant environmental risk factor for prostate cancer.
Symptoms of Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer often develops without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. As a result most doctors will tell you to get checked often. My personal philosophy is to live an anti cancer lifestyle and avoid going to medical doctors for checkups. Here’s why.
But if you’re not going to take care of yourself, I would recommend checkups. The other nuance about checkups is to ask yourself “what would I do if i were diagnosed with XYZ disease?”. If you already know the answer (and it’s not chemotherapy, radiation, surgery or drugs) then why go get tested?
I promote taking radical responsibility for your health.
Anyway…as prostate cancer progresses, you might experience urinary symptoms, including frequent urination, difficulty starting or stopping urination, weak urine flow, or the sensation of incomplete bladder emptying. These are the common symptoms but just because you have these symptoms of prostate cancer, doesn’t mean you have prostate cancer.
Blood in the urine or semen (hematuria or hematospermia) might also be a warning sign to look out for.
If it has advanced to any degree you might have some bone pain—particularly in the hips, back, or ribs—which MIGHT be a sign that the cancer has spread to your bones.
Erectile dysfunction or unexplained weight loss and fatigue could also be symptoms but again, just because you have these doesn’t mean you have prostate cancer. These symptoms highlight the importance of proactive health practices to prevent prostate cancer in the first place.
4-Methylumbelliferone (4-MU): A Potential Breakthrough in Prostate Cancer Treatment
What Is 4-MU?
4-Methylumbelliferone (4-MU) is a naturally occurring coumarin derivative that has been used in Europe and Asia as a liver-supportive supplement under the name hymecromone. While initially recognized for its role in promoting bile flow, research over the last decade has been focused on its very strong anti-cancer properties. The exciting part is that it seems to be really effective on prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, and osteosarcoma.
How exciting is that as a holistic treatment for prostate cancer?
Discovery and Mechanism of Action
The interesting thing about 4-MU was that researches first noticed its ability to inhibit hyaluronic acid (HA) synthesis, a molecule crucial to cancer progression, metastasis, and immune evasion. This is a huge deal.
Absolutely HUGE.
You see prostate cancer cells rely on HA to promote their growth and spread, making HA inhibition a novel therapeutic approach. I haven’t read other studies showing how other cancers use HA to spread, but my work is not done! Other studies have shown that 4-MU not only blocks HA production but also induces cancer cell apoptosis, reduces tumor size, and prevents metastasis.
In my opinion (I’m not a doctor but just a health researcher who loves studying researcher journals) 4-MU is one of the first things I would consider as my primary holistic treatment for prostate cancer.
Effectiveness Against Prostate Cancer
A pivotal study I read a few years ago, was published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI) in 2015. It’s linked up below. It found that 4-MU is a very effective, non-toxic oral chemopreventive and therapeutic agent for prostate cancer. Has your oncologist read this study?
If not, why not?
In research using TRAMP mice, a well-established model for human prostate cancer, 4-MU….. now get this….completely abrogated tumor formation and metastasis at doses of 450 mg/kg/day.
Additional Research and References
Here are some studies that I would HIGHLY suggest you read and share with your doctor if you are serious about a holistic treatment for prostate cancer. Most medical doctors simply don’t have time to read studies like this or even do deep research.
Most likely your oncologist will not believe the studies or try to disparage their design in some way. Their goal is to get you on chemotherapy or radiation. They’ll even go so far as to say, we don’t want you to consider 4-MU AND we want you to take chemotherapy but don’t take any antioxidants with chemo because it’ll “prevent the medicine from working“.
I’ve seen many a person die this way. It’s sad. Very sad.
As an aside, if I were forced to take chemotherapy, here’s what I would take.
Anyway here are the research papers you should consider reading…
- 4-MU and Prostate Cancer: Dietary Supplement 4-Methylumbelliferone: An Effective Chemopreventive and Therapeutic Agent for Prostate Cancer (J Natl Cancer Inst, 2015)
- 4-MU and Ovarian Cancer: 4-Methylumbelliferone inhibits ovarian cancer growth by suppressing thymidine phosphorylase expression (Journal of Ovarian Research, 2014)
- 4-MU and Bone Cancer: 4-Methylumbelliferone suppresses tumorigenicity in vitro and metastatic lesions of bone in vivo (Int J Cancer, 2012)
- 4-MU and Pancreatic Cancer: 4-Methylumbelliferone suppresses tumor progression in SCID mice injected with pancreatic cancer cells (Pancreas, 2017)

Safety and Availability
One of the most exciting aspects in my opinion of 4-MU is its exceptional safety profile. A 2015 review confirmed my suspicion that 4-MU is extremely well-tolerated in humans (just like chemotherapy! Lol) at doses up to 2400 mg per day with no significant side effects.
But (and there always has to be a butt right?), despite its effectiveness, 4-MU is not widely available in the U.S. for cancer treatment, largely due to regulatory and pharmaceutical industry barriers. In other words, drug companies cannot profit from it, so they’d rather you die instead.
You cannot find 4-MU anywhere but I did find it at the link below. I want to preface this for my own safety. This is not a cure for prostate cancer and you should always check with your licensed medical doctor before starting any treatment. I am not affiliated or compensated in any way with the company or website below.
With that said, if my doctor told me I had prostate cancer the first thing I would do is start taking 4-MU. But you have to make your own medical choices and do what’s best for you.
Hope for Prostate Cancer Patients
For men diagnosed with prostate cancer, 4-MU represents (to me) a super exciting breakthrough in non-toxic cancer therapy.
With its ability to inhibit tumor growth, prevent metastasis, and work synergistically with other natural compounds, this supplement should be a cornerstone of a holistic treatment for prostate cancer. Ideally it would include other nutraceuticals as well.
4-MU is just one of many exciting breakthroughs for prostate cancer I would explore.
I’ve detailed all the other ones in my Healthy Prostate Protocol that you might enjoy.
Medical “professional” say things like “further research and advocacy may help bring 4-MU into mainstream cancer care, offering new hope to those battling the disease” but that’s code for, “Even though we have remedies for cancer, we can’t profit from them so we’re okay with you dying“.
If they can’t make money, they’re good with you dying.
This is why it’s so critical to read research and understand how the human body works.
Remember you cannot continue to live a pro carcinogenic lifestyle, take a pill and think you’ll be healed. If you’re banging your head against a wall, taking a Tylenol or white willow bark if you’re naturally inclined isn’t the way to get rid of your headache.
The way you get rid of the headache is to stop banging your head against the wall.
If you want to speed that process, take some white willow bark and avoid banging your head against the wall.
Conclusion
I want to be clear, 4-MU isn’t the only natural substance that’s anti cancer in nature. If I were ever diagnosed with prostate cancer and were looking for a holistic treatment for it, I would avoid all the things I mentioned that cause cancer cells to grow.
Then I would o certain lifestyle practices, change my diet, upgrade my light environment (by wearing blue blocking glasses, installing Iris Tech and replacing my lightbulbs) and get sunshine daily. Then adding to that I would take 4-MU.
Getting diagnosed with cancer, is what my teacher Jim Rohn says an “invitation to life change“.
If you’d like more information about many suppressed natural treatments for cancer I’d look into my Kancer Protocol (misspelling on purpose) in general and my Healthy Prostate Protocol in particular.
I’ll go over some other exciting holistic treatments for prostate cancer in future articles but I wanted to let you know specifically about 4-MU.
I hope that it gives you some hope with your outlook for the future.
Happy healing!
