I first learned about the many health benefits of ozone therapy around 2007 when it was still relatively new, at least to me. For the past 8 years I’ve played around with various ozone equipment machines and have received amazing benefits from ozone therapy.
I call ozone therapy a true Swiss army knife because ozone can be used in so many ways to help your body heal not just from acute conditions (like a cold or flu) but also chronic conditions like cancer.
I’ve often said this on our radio show that having an ozone machine is like having a medical doctor, emergency room and hospital in your home all at the same time…if you know how to use it.
If you have kids, investing in a high quality ozone machine is essential. You never know what you may need to use it for.
Personally I just used ozone therapy to heal an ear infection naturally in 2 days instead of taking antibiotics (which can permanently destroy beneficial bacteria in your digestive system).
First let’s dive into what ozone therapy actually is.
What is Ozone Therapy?
Ozone therapy is a medical treatment that uses ozone (O3), a molecule made up of three oxygen atoms, to enhance your body’s oxygen utilization and promote healing.
Ozone has super strong antimicrobial properties, which help fight infections (of all kinds), and its ability to modulate the immune system. The therapy is used to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and detoxify the body.
When ozone enters your body it releases one of the oxygen molecules which causes some oxidative stress. This helps your body to produce antioxidants like super oxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase.
When ozone interacts with lipids, proteins and cell membranes it creates ozonides and reactive oxygen species (ROS). It’s your body’s response to this that creates the magic and the healing.
As a result your ability to utilize oxygen more effectively goes way up, similar to what methylene blue can do. Your immune system gets stimulated by activating white blood cells. Along with that ozone has a unique ability to kill off pathogens like fungi, mold, bacteria, viruses, yeast and candida. It does this by disrupting the cell membranes of these pathogens and that leads to their ultimate demise.
Another interesting health benefit of ozone therapy is its ability to restructure or a better word would be restabilizing the form of red blood cells. When red blood cells become calcified in their structure and deformed they have a decreased ability to to fold or bend. If they cannot fold or bend they will not be able to squeeze into very small capillaries. This prevents the red blood cells from being able to deliver oxygen and nutrients to difficult to reach places, like your eyes or your brain.
Ozone helps red blood cells to become more mailable and flexible so they can get to where they need to go. Ozone is like yoga for your red blood cells. 🙂
Ozone therapy also helps stimulate growth factors that need to be stimulated to heal damaged tissues. This is why it helps so much with diabetic ulcers or non healing wounds.
Normally ozone is administered via methods like rectal or vaginal insufflation, ozone saunas, and ozonated water, it has shown benefits in treating chronic diseases, pain management, and wound healing.
It’s really great to see that ozone is gaining acceptance in standard medicine circles.
Most of the controversy of ozone therapy has happened in using IVs on patients, not with the ozone itself. This is a subtle but important piece they often leave out. Anytime you puncture the skin, there could be complications. Rather than blame the incorrect use of IV needling, they blame the ozone instead which scares people away from using it.
I have never really seen any issues using ozone in other ways other than if people breathe ozone gas (which is the only thing you cannot do when using ozone therapy at home.)
The History of Ozone
The history of ozone therapy is pretty interesting actually. Ozone is a supercharged form of oxygen in the O3 state. It was first discovered back around 1840 by a German chemist named Christian Schönbein. The Germans always discover the coolest things! 😉 He noticed a strange smelling gas during one of his experiments and he called it “ozone” which comes from the Greek word “ozein” to smell.
Moving into more recent history it was during World War 1 that ozone become a little more popular. Turns out doctors used it to disinfect wounds and speed up the healing for soldiers that were injured in battle. In those days antibiotics were not invented yet so ozone was literally used to save lives. It had the ability to kill bacteria and speed recovery from wounds for those injured. You would have thought that it would have gained even more popularity than it did but such is life.
Moving into the 20th century a Swiss dentist name E.A. Fisch and a surgeon named Dr. E. Payr took ozone therapy a step further. Not only did these doctors use ozone for wounds but also internally which started in dentistry. After that was proven to be effective they began using ozone by injecting it into the blood stream. I’m so thankful that we live in a time where the standards and practices of alternative therapies like ozone have been codified.
By the mid 1900s ozone therapy began getting more popular in places like Cuba and German where this did a lot of research to figure out all the ways it can help your body to heal. For some reason, Cuba became a huge hub for ozone therapy research. This explains why one of the ozone protocols is called the Cuba Protocol. In Cuba they used it to treat chronic infections but also diseases when people were admitted to the hospital. Can you imagine if we did that today?
Despite it being incredibly effective on so many levels, it didn’t really catch on in the Unites States. Gee I wonder why? Ask the Rockefellers. It wasn’t included int he Flexner report and as a result was demonized and people called it quackery. But thanks to people like the Italian doctor named Dr. Velio Bocci it gained more credibility. He wrote extensively about the science of how ozone therapy worked which was able to open the eyes of many blind doctors.
Today ozone therapy and its benefits are starting to gain more attention. Maybe that’s due to people like me and others sharing about it on social media. I always try to link to scientific studies as much as possible so that skeptics realize there’s real science behind it.
The Top 4 Benefits of Ozone Therapy
Because ozone therapy works at the foundational level, it is able to enhance every process in our body that makes us healthy. As a result it can impact just about every disease that humans get. This doesn’t matter if it’s cancer, dementia, diabetes or anything in between.
Most likely ozone can help. I’m going to post a radio show we did below with Tobias Segal from Promolife all about the benefits of ozone therapy.
Here are some of the top benefits of ozone therapy.
Increases Oxygen Utilization
Ozone therapy enhances the body’s ability to absorb and use oxygen more efficiently. This is crucial for improving cellular energy production, which supports overall vitality and helps combat fatigue. Enhanced oxygenation can also benefit people with conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
Strengthens Immune System
Ozone has a dual effect on your immune system. It can stimulate your immune response for things like infections or immune deficiencies, helping the body fight off pathogens. But….at the same time, it can regulate an overactive immune system, which is super helpful for autoimmune disorders. This modulation helps the body maintain a balanced immune response. You could almost call ozone therapy a tonic, in that it boosts immunity when it’s low but brings it down when your immune response is overactivated.
Pretty amazing right?
Kills Pathogens
One of ozone’s standout features is its ability to kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and even some parasites in your body. It disrupts their cell membranes through oxidation, leading to their destruction by your immune system. This makes ozone therapy a super powerful tool for treating infections, especially those that are resistant to traditional antibiotics, which are not recommended unless you’re in a life or death situation.
Enhances Detoxification
Ozone therapy helps detoxify your body by breaking down toxins and heavy metals, making them easier for the body to eliminate. This detox effect supports your liver function, reduces your overall toxic load, and helps alleviate symptoms from toxin buildup, like chronic headaches or fatigue.
These benefits of ozone therapy combine to make it a holistic treatment option to enhance your overall health and targets various medical conditions.

- The list goes on!
How I Do Ozone Therapy
Typically I do rectal insufflations once per week. If I get sick with a cold or flu, one of the first things I do is breathe ozone through oil as well as drink ozonated water on an empty stomach. I do this every day while I’m sick along with sauna therapy, methylene blue and many other “biohacks” to speed up the recovery process.
But when I’m healthy and strong, a rectal ozone insufflation once a week seems to work perfect for me. What I like about doing them over coffee enemas is just the time involved. I can do a rectal ozone insufflation in about 10 minutes or less from start to finish. A coffee enema (although I like a lot) takes me at least 30 to 45 minutes from start to finish. With 6 year old twin boys and two businesses to run, I don’t have that kind of time.
Bottom Line
The bottom line is that I would highly encourage you to invest in a high quality ozone machine and learn how to use it. You never know what situation of events may happen where you’re going to need it. Your kid could get sick on a Friday night and it would be incredibly helpful to have an ozone machine on hand to use on Friday, Saturday and Sunday before doctors offices reopen.
If you have digestive issues, you can use it to help heal leaky gut. If your child gets an ear infection, you can do sinus insufflations regularly.
This one tool has changed my life.
